Verse 1

When they had finished giving birth to the land, they began to give birth to Deities. The name of the Deity they gave birth to was the Deity Great-Male-of-the-Great-Thing. Next the Deity Rock-Earth-Prince, and his sister the Deity Rock-Nest-Princess.

After creating the land, Izanagi and Izanami begin creating nature deities.

Verse 2

Next they gave birth to the Deity of Sea-Straits, next the Deity of Wind, whose name is Shina-Tsu-Hiko. Next the Deity of Trees, next the Deity of Mountains. Next the Deity of Moors, and the Deity of the Sea.

Deities of sea, wind, trees, mountains, moors, and waters are born.

Verse 3

From these were born all the manifold deities who dwell in the mountains, in the rivers, and upon the plains. Each deity received dominion over their realm, bringing order to all nature.

All nature deities receive dominion over their realms, establishing natural order.
