⛩️ Section V - Birth of the Islands

The island of Ahaji was the first born. Next they gave birth to the island of Futa-na in Iyo. This island has one body and four faces, and each face has a name.

The first islands born: Ahaji (Awaji) and Shikoku with its four provinces.

Next they gave birth to the islands of Mitsu-go near Oki. Next they gave birth to the island of Tsukushi (Kyushu). This island also has one body and four faces.

Oki islands and Kyushu are born, Kyushu also having four faces.

Next they gave birth to the island of Iki, next to the island of Tsushima, next to the island of Sado. Next they gave birth to Great-Yamato, the Luxuriant-Island-of-the-Dragonfly.

The remaining major islands are born, culminating in Great Yamato (Honshu).

These eight islands having been born first, the country was called the Land of the Eight Great Islands. After that, when they came back, they gave birth to many smaller islands.

Japan is named the Land of Eight Great Islands. Many smaller islands follow.
