Jeremiah 51:1

Yahweh says:

Jeremiah 51:2

I will send to Babylon strangers, who will winnow her.

Jeremiah 51:3

Against him who bends, let the archer bend his bow,

Jeremiah 51:4

They will fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans,

Jeremiah 51:5

For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, by his God,

Jeremiah 51:6

“Flee out of the middle of Babylon!

Jeremiah 51:7

Babylon has been a golden cup in Yahweh’s hand,

Jeremiah 51:8

Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed!

Jeremiah 51:9

“We would have healed Babylon,

Jeremiah 51:1

‘Yahweh has produced our righteousness:

Jeremiah 51:11

“Make the arrows sharp!

Jeremiah 51:12

Set up a standard against the walls of Babylon!

Jeremiah 51:13

You who dwell on many waters, abundant in treasures,

Jeremiah 51:14

Yahweh of Armies has sworn by himself, saying,

Jeremiah 51:15

“He has made the earth by his power.

Jeremiah 51:16

When he utters his voice,

Jeremiah 51:17

“Every man has become brutish without knowledge.

Jeremiah 51:18

They are vanity,

Jeremiah 51:19

The portion of Jacob is not like these,

Jeremiah 51:2

“You are my battle ax and weapons of war.

Jeremiah 51:21

With you I will break in pieces

Jeremiah 51:22

With you I will break in pieces

Jeremiah 51:23

With you I will break in pieces

Jeremiah 51:24

“I will render to Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight,” says Yahweh.

Jeremiah 51:25

“Behold, I am against you, destroying mountain,” says Yahweh,

Jeremiah 51:26

They won’t take a cornerstone from you,

Jeremiah 51:27

“Set up a standard in the land!

Jeremiah 51:28

Prepare against her the nations,

Jeremiah 51:29

The land trembles and is in pain;

Jeremiah 51:3

The mighty men of Babylon have stopped fighting,

Jeremiah 51:31

One runner will run to meet another,

Jeremiah 51:32

So the passages are seized.

Jeremiah 51:33

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says:

Jeremiah 51:34

“Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me.

Jeremiah 51:35

May the violence done to me and to my flesh be on Babylon!”

Jeremiah 51:36

Therefore Yahweh says:

Jeremiah 51:37

Babylon will become heaps,

Jeremiah 51:38

They will roar together like young lions.

Jeremiah 51:39

When they are heated, I will make their feast,

Jeremiah 51:4

“I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter,

Jeremiah 51:41

“How Sheshach is taken!

Jeremiah 51:42

The sea has come up on Babylon.

Jeremiah 51:43

Her cities have become a desolation,

Jeremiah 51:44

I will execute judgment on Bel in Babylon,

Jeremiah 51:45

“My people, go away from the middle of her,

Jeremiah 51:46

Don’t let your heart faint.

Jeremiah 51:47

Therefore behold, the days come that I will execute judgment on the engraved images of Babylon;

Jeremiah 51:48

Then the heavens and the earth,

Jeremiah 51:49

“As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall,

Jeremiah 51:5

You who have escaped the sword, go!

Jeremiah 51:51

“We are confounded,

Jeremiah 51:52

“Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh,

Jeremiah 51:53

Though Babylon should mount up to the sky,

Jeremiah 51:54

“The sound of a cry comes from Babylon,

Jeremiah 51:55

For Yahweh lays Babylon waste,

Jeremiah 51:56

For the destroyer has come on her,

Jeremiah 51:57

I will make her princes, her wise men,

Jeremiah 51:58

Yahweh of Armies says:

Jeremiah 51:59

The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Now Seraiah was chief quartermaster.

Jeremiah 51:6

Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come on Babylon, even all these words that are written concerning Babylon.

Jeremiah 51:61

Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “When you come to Babylon, then see that you read all these words,

Jeremiah 51:62

and say, ‘Yahweh, you have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that no one will dwell in it, neither man nor animal, but that it will be desolate forever.’

Jeremiah 51:63

It will be, when you have finished reading this book, that you shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the middle of the Euphrates.

Jeremiah 51:64

Then you shall say, ‘Thus will Babylon sink, and will not rise again because of the evil that I will bring on her; and they will be weary.’”
