☯️ 井 (Jǐng) - The Well
The Well. The town may be changed, but the well cannot be changed. It neither decreases nor increases. They come and go and draw from the well. - Water over wood: the image of the Well. Thus the superior man encourages the people at their work, and exhorts them to help one another.

Verse 1
井，改邑不改井，無喪無得
jǐng, gǎi yì bù gǎi jǐng, wú sàng wú dé
The Well. The town may be changed, but the well cannot be changed. It neither decreases nor increases.
Verse 2
初六：井泥不食，舊井無禽
chū liù: jǐng ní bù shí, jiù jǐng wú qín
Six at the beginning: One does not drink the mud of the well. No animals come to an old well.
Verse 3
九二：井谷射鮒，瓮敝漏
jiǔ èr: jǐng gǔ shè fù, wèng bì lòu
Nine in the second place: At the well hole one shoots fishes. The jug is broken and leaks.
Verse 4
九三：井渫不食，為我心惻
jiǔ sān: jǐng xiè bù shí, wéi wǒ xīn cè
Nine in the third place: The well is cleaned, but no one drinks from it. This is my heart's sorrow, for one might draw from it.
Verse 5
六四：井甃，無咎
liù sì: jǐng zhòu, wú jiù
Six in the fourth place: The well is being lined. No blame.
Verse 6
九五：井冽，寒泉食
jiǔ wǔ: jǐng liè, hán quán shí
Nine in the fifth place: In the well there is a clear, cold spring from which one can drink.
Verse 7
上六：井收勿幕，有孚元吉
shàng liù: jǐng shōu wù mù, yǒu fú yuán jí
Six at the top: One draws from the well without hindrance. It is dependable. Supreme good fortune.
