The Family. The perseverance of the woman furthers. - Wind comes forth from fire: the image of the Family. Thus the superior man has substance in his words and duration in his way of life.

家人，利女貞
jiā rén, lì nǚ zhēn
The Family. The perseverance of the woman furthers.
Verse 2
初九：閑有家，悔亡
chū jiǔ: xián yǒu jiā, huǐ wáng
Nine at the beginning: Firm seclusion within the family. Remorse disappears.
Verse 3
六二：無攸遂，在中饋，貞吉
liù èr: wú yōu suì, zài zhōng kuì, zhēn jí
Six in the second place: She should not follow her whims. She must attend within to the food. Perseverance brings good fortune.
Verse 4
九三：家人嗃嗃，悔厲吉
jiǔ sān: jiā rén hè hè, huǐ lì jí
Nine in the third place: When tempers flare up in the family, too great severity brings remorse. Good fortune nonetheless. When woman and child dally and laugh, it leads in the end to humiliation.
Verse 5
六四：富家，大吉
liù sì: fù jiā, dà jí
Six in the fourth place: She is the treasure of the house. Great good fortune.
Verse 6
九五：王假有家，勿恤，吉
jiǔ wǔ: wáng jiǎ yǒu jiā, wù xù, jí
Nine in the fifth place: As a king he approaches his family. Fear not. Good fortune.
Verse 7
上九：有孚威如，終吉
shàng jiǔ: yǒu fú wēi rú, zhōng jí
Nine at the top: His work commands respect. In the end good fortune comes.
